Greater Than All Other Gods

“…and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left” (Exodus 14:21-22).

“Who among the gods is like you, LordWho is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders” (Exodus 15:11)? 

“The Lord is his name” (Exodus 15:3).

“Now I know that the Lord is greater than all other gods” (Exodus 18:11).

Historically, there always were other gods and other powers. It is no surprise that, today, we are a people worshiping other gods, embracing other powers, or worshiping idols. The common trend among all time is God’s intent — to show His power.

God has consistently pursued humanity in this way, revealing Himself to us through signs and wonders so that we might know Him. God wants us to reverently fear Him; that is only fitting.

He wants us to flourish! God wants us flowing with Him, with peace and love and joy. He wants us overcoming earthly, fleshly hardships, which is possible by only His power. (Remember, only God holds all power–all other powers are always outweighed and outmatched by God’s).

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever (Psalm 118:29)!

Outmatched Power

Finally, the magicians’ power reached its limit and could no longer match God’s. They confessed to their leader, Pharaoh, that surely “this is the finger of God” (Exodus 8:19). In other words, “Surely, Pharaoh, these acts we are witnessing are from the one true God. Surely, what we’re hearing from Aaron and Moses is from the one true God.” They probably felt convicted, and hoped for a turnaround by way of their leader.

However, Pharaoh’s heart was unyielding (Exodus 7:14; 9:7). Neither Pharaoh nor his people (the Egyptians) feared the Lord (Exodus 9:30). Certainly, they did not worship God or let the Israelites worship God.

By His power, God made a distinction between His people (the oppressed Israelites) and Pharaoh’s people (Exodus 8:23) and also between the people’s animals (Exodus 9:4).

The magicians could not stand before Moses because of their own physical suffering that God’s power had brought upon themselves, their leader Pharaoh and the Egyptian people (Exodus 9:11).

God has been consistently interested in showing His power. God wants us to know Him. There are real powers in this world. Only God’s power leads to salvation. Just as in all the other accounts, other real powers in this world are distracting from God’s amazing love, from His goodness, and from His grace which surrounds us as we swim in our sin.

Without God, we’re drowning. We need His rescue. We need our cries for help to go up to God. We need God to be concerned about us. We need to get back to fearing God, and we need to get back to worshiping Him only. 

For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth (Exodus 9:15-16; 10:2).

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing (Psalm 34:7-10).

Do You Need the Power of God?

  1. Decide in your heart what you are needing and asking of God, as I also agree with you. Know, then, God’s mighty power and presence is surely with us: “…truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:19-20).
  2. Bug God, as if there is no tomorrow. Beg and plead with God for Him to answer you: “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: ‘In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’ And the Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:1-8).
  3. Believe! Do not doubt: “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins” (Mark 11:22-26).

“…and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).

What is God’s Power?

God’s power calls into being things that were not: “…the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not” (Romans 4:17). God raised his Son from the dead, but people were also brought to life by God’s power: “Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, ‘Tabitha, get up.’ She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive” (Acts 9:40-41).

God’s power can strengthen our inner being: “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being…” (Ephesians 3:16). 

The power of God is packed with energy:  “To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me” (Colossians 1:29). 

God’s power is above all other powers and authority: “…and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority” (Colossians 2:10). 

God’s power is far more powerful than any other name invoked: “…and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come” (Ephesians 1:19-21).

God’s power can do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” (Ephesians 3:20).

God’s power leads to salvation: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…” (Romans 1:16).

This is the power of God! 

This power, God’s power, is available to those who believe Jesus. God wants us to rely on His power. Relying on God’s power is an integral part of the Christian faith.



Do We Want Our Military Using Reiki?

What is being said about Reiki, and why would it matter?

Christians themselves are being deceived and using Reiki (just as I was). Medical professionals are already using Reiki as, in some cases, it is being offered as an alternative treatment option. Massage therapists are using Reiki, too.

You might ask, “So what? I’m not.”

God’s Power vs. Baal’s Power

“Is that you, you troubler of Israel?” Ahab and his wife and people all over Israel abandoned God and his ways (commands), and were encountering some trouble.

Elijah answered that no, he was not the one to blame for the trouble–in fact, they themselves were. They were the ones who turned against God and turned to false idols instead. Maybe that’s why trouble was happening.

So Elijah prompted Ahab to have a gathering on the matter. He asked Ahab to gather people from all over Israel to a mountain called Mount Carmel, including 450 Baal worshipers and 400 Asherah worshipers. It ended up being quite a large crowd that day!

Elijah stood before the crowd, saying, “How long will you waiver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”

The two parties–Elijah and the “other god” worshipers–agreed to test their gods. They arranged an agreement both parties were satisfied with, and then began the test. The “other god” worshipers went first with their testing, which ended up being an all day affair. They spent all day calling upon their gods, even prophesying. Finally, nothing. The test proved false. Finally, it was Elijah’s turn.

What did Elijah do, but pray; this prayer: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all things at your command. Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”

What followed Elijah’s prayer was the evidence the two parties had agreed upon; the proof that would show which God is real. The crowd fell to the ground, acknowledging the God of Elijah was the one true God.

Did you catch how while the Israelites were calling upon their gods to answer them, they were prophesying? In other words, there was some power happening. Just like today, how there are some powers happening. There are real powers that are for real giving physical healing, for example, and yet only God’s power leads to salvation.

Why not yield to Christ and engage His power that is truly for our good, both currently and eternally?

Some believers (Christians) have a form of godliness but deny God’s power (2 Timothy 3:5).

And “many live as enemies of the cross of Christ…their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things” (Philippians 3:18-19).

God’s power is real, and only God’s power leads to salvation (Romans 1:16).


Reiki as Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent

Rei means wisdom. Ki means life energy.

Reiki is said to be all-knowing, all-powerful (life and life-giving), and everywhere; a life- force energy that is always available, for any need, for any person, at any time or place, and having no limits.

Only God is Omniscient (all knowing), Omnipotent (having all power), and Omnipresent (always present). Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:3-5).

The purpose of the book of John is that we might believe and therefore have life in his name. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name (John 20:31). 

There cannot be two absolutes. There is one absolute, one truth, and that is God.

Reiki is said to have come from God, a higher being, a higher power, or whatever word one chooses. The Bible, however, neither mentions Reiki nor supports its philosophy.

Reiki will give personality changes, produce patience, love, acceptance (tolerance), a non-judgment attitude of others, and will increase our connection to god. It has no limits; unlimited potential. It will grow and increase in frequency and strength. It will produce for us more knowledge, more wisdom, and more superior human qualities.

We are warned, “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ” (Colossians 2:8). 

Reiki asks us to choose. In fact, it will not force itself on someone who does not first choose it. Once one chooses Reiki, then and only then will Reiki “work.” It is important to note here that Spirit-filled believers are to some extent protected from Reiki, as I was. During my Reiki attunement in March 2017, only I had no wild experience while the others in the group reported having profound, unusual encounters. 

God calls us to choose, to make up our minds, to believe Jesus; to believe His Word (the Bible): “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God (John 3:16-18).

Clearly, Satan is disguising himself through the use of Reiki: Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).
