“…and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left” (Exodus 14:21-22).
“Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders” (Exodus 15:11)?
“The Lord is his name” (Exodus 15:3).
“Now I know that the Lord is greater than all other gods” (Exodus 18:11).
Historically, there always were other gods and other powers. It is no surprise that, today, we are a people worshiping other gods, embracing other powers, or worshiping idols. The common trend among all time is God’s intent — to show His power.
God has consistently pursued humanity in this way, revealing Himself to us through signs and wonders so that we might know Him. God wants us to reverently fear Him; that is only fitting.
He wants us to flourish! God wants us flowing with Him, with peace and love and joy. He wants us overcoming earthly, fleshly hardships, which is possible by only His power. (Remember, only God holds all power–all other powers are always outweighed and outmatched by God’s).
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever (Psalm 118:29)!
